At the Kalebuka Football for Hope Center Malaika aims to tackle one of the leading challenges to health in the DRC: 40% of children under age 5 die as a result of malaria, a preventable and treatable disease.
Our Drop Malaria program’s focus is to increase awareness about the causes of malaria through community sensitization activities, like theater, health information sessions and football, as well as to prevent this disease via household distribution of 2,000 Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets.
This program was generously funded through FIFA’s World Cup Legacy Trust, which supports education and healthcare initiatives in disadvantaged communities.
Thanks to Novartis, were received a donation of pamphlets and books that discuss malaria awareness and prevention in language that is accessible to children.
Thank you FIFA and Novartis!
