My name is Marie-José Ilunga, and I am a proud mother of 8 children, with Heritier being our youngest. As the last born in our family, I have always worried about how he would navigate the challenges of life, especially given our circumstances. We have always had our struggles, but the one thing I always dreamed for my children was the opportunity for a good education.
When Heritier first began attending the Community Center, where he learns Mathematics, Civics, French, and Numerics, I had no idea just how much of an impact it would have on him. It was a big change for him, as I could see how excited and eager he was to learn. Slowly, I began noticing how his mindset started to shift.

Heritier is no longer the shy boy who barely believed in his potential. The growth I’ve seen in him has been remarkable. He has become more confident, not only in his studies but also in his ability to express himself and engage with others. It’s as though the education he receives at the Community Center has unlocked a new vision for his future. He is motivated, diligent, and dreams of achieving something big in life.
The change in him since he started his lessons has been so encouraging for me and our entire family that I decided to enroll in adults’ literacy at the Community Center. Today I can count, speak and write.
The Community Center has truly made a difference in our life, and I believe it will continue to shape our future in ways we couldn’t have imagined before.
