How Your
Donation Helps

Malaika thrives on the support of its donors. Through regular donations, we’re able to build additional classrooms and wells, grow our community programs, and ultimately touch an even greater number of lives. Every dollar makes a difference.

How your donation helps:

$65 a month or $775 a year sponsors the education of a girl at the Malaika School.

$10 helps send a student on an educational field trip.

$25 provides a villager with vocational training.

$50 provides coding classes to give students 21st Century skills.

$100 supports a football tournament for the young people of Kalebuka.

$250 provides a class of students with a nutritional breakfast and lunch for a week.

$500 purchases equipment for our growing STEM program.

Donate Stock To Georges Malaika Foundation

Bequests

A simple, commonly used method to support Malaika’s impact is naming the Georges Malaika Foundation as a beneficiary in your will. You can do this in one of three ways:

  1. You can leave the Georges Malaika Foundation a specific amount of cash or specific assets.
EXAMPLE: “I give the sum of $10,000 to the Georges Malaika Foundation,” or “I give 500 shares of XYZ Corporation stock to the Georges Malaika Foundation.”
  2. You can leave the Georges Malaika Foundation a fixed percentage of your estate.
EXAMPLE: “I give 25 percent of the residue of my estate to the Georges Malaika Foundation.”
  3. You can leave the Georges Malaika Foundation all or part of the residue of the estate after bequests to other beneficiaries have been made.
EXAMPLE: “I give the residue of my real and personal estate to the Georges Malaika Foundation.”

Malaika welcomes both unrestricted and restricted bequests: An unrestricted bequest allows Malaika to determine the best use for your gift, whereas a restricted bequest lets you make the choice. For example, your restricted bequest could support the work of a particular program at Malaika—or provide longer term impact through Malaika’s endowment fund.

If you already have a will and you wish to make a bequest to the Georges Malaika Foundation without rewriting the entire document, a codicil can be drawn to accomplish this purpose.

If you have elected a living trust rather than a will, you can also easily include the Georges Malaika Foundation as trust beneficiary, similar to a bequest under a will.
