My name is Jeanne D’arc Kaj. I am a wife and mother of 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls, including Gracia, my second daughter.
Gracia was only 4 years old when our financial situation at home became precarious, and I was so worried about her future because I could no longer provide for her schooling. It was at this very moment that I heard rumors in the neighborhood about a school being built to offer free education to girls from underprivileged families, including my own.
I immediately jumped at the chance to take advantage of it, because it was really beneficial for my daughter.
Gracia has become the superstar of the whole family, because since her enrollment she has never ceased to have a positive influence on her brothers and sisters, and even on us as parents, because she always gives us back what she learns at school.
This change has been a very significant turning point in my daughter’s life and for my whole family, and our opinion has literally changed on the question of girls’ emancipation. Frankly, we didn’t believe or expect that our daughter would be so talented and could make us so proud of her.

Before, she had a very limited field of vision with regard to her future, but today she’s 17 and in her final year and will probably graduate in August, a moment of glory that we look forward to with impatience and excitement as a family; thanks to education she knows how to project herself into the future, choose what she wants to become, dream big and work hard to achieve her dream.
I can’t wait to see her emerge again and carve out a considerable place for herself in the community and serve it.
If you’d like to support Gracia’s future as she is due to graduate from the Malaika School and pursue higher education, please contact us or donate here.
