Be a Part of the Malaika Community
Visiting Malaika was the realization of a dream I have had for three years, ever since I met Noella. Everything was as I imagined it: bright, happy girls, dedicated teachers and staff, and well-thought out facilities. Not one detail has been overlooked to ensure the success of the program. I am thrilled and honored to be a part of this organization and I feel fortunate to have gotten to visit. I look forward to returning soon.
How You Can Help:
Volunteer Your Time
We always need volunteers! Whether you’re a lawyer, an accountant, or a full-time mom, your expertise and time are invaluable gifts. If you’d like to help, please write to us at email@example.com.

Donate Your Birthday
No one wants to turn up empty-handed to a birthday party, even when the invitation says “no presents”. People buy gifts that you may not really want. Why not ask people to donate to Malaika as their gift to you? Here are some fun ideas:
Raise money for building supplies such as bricks, windows or cement for the School expansion, or for sponsoring our students by asking your friends to donate 40 dollars each for your 40th birthday!

Create an Online Fundraiser
STEP 1: Visit https://www.facebook.com/MalaikaDRC/fundraisers/ on your computer or mobile app.
STEP 2: Click “+Raise Money”
STEP 3: Set a realistic goal for your fundraiser. Remember, $775 will sponsor one girl for one year! You can always change the amount if you reach your initial goal. Set a date for your fundraiser’s end date.
STEP 4: Tell your friends why you are raising money for Malaika. The more personal your story, the more money you will raise for Malaika!
STEP 5: Pick a cover photo – use the images from the Facebook gallery, or add your own.
STEP 6: Click “Create” to start your fundraiser and share it with your friends!
Wedding Donation Ideas
In lieu of the usual wedding favors for your guests, why not introduce them to Malaika? You could add Malaika to your wedding registry or make a contribution to Malaika. We will provide you with beautiful thank you cards to present to your guests. Help our girls continue their education and introduce your guests to our foundation. Congratulations!
Run or Walk for Us
Interested in taking on the challenge of a marathon or walk and looking for a worthy cause to help motivate you? We have partnered with many marathon runners and walkers in the U.S. and Europe. We will supply Malaika-branded sponsor forms for you, promote your fundraising page on our website, Facebook and Twitter, and provide you with a Malaika t-shirt for the big day.

Spread the Word
We are still a young foundation. The more people that know about us, the more we will succeed and the more girls in the Congo we can help. So, if you are passionate about our cause, here are some simple ideas to help us spread the word:
Add a Malaika logo or Malaika website link to your emails
Like the Malaika Facebook page
Follow @MalaikaDRC on Instagram
Follow @MalaikaDRC on Twitter
Join the Malaika LinkedIn group

Host an Event
You don’t need to plan a black tie ball to help! If you want to host an event to raise money for Malaika, here are some fun and easy ways to make it happen:
A Night In for Cocktails. Invite your friends over for a fun night in instead of going out. Put your cocktail money in a pot and send it to Malaika. So simple and fun!
Dinner Party. Host a dinner party for a group of your friends and have everyone donate what they would have spent eating out to Malaika! We can provide you with promotional materials.
Movie Viewing. Get your friends together to watch and discuss a documentary on the Congo like The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo, Reporter, Virunga, or Lumo. Suggest a donation amount for each viewer.
Morning Tea and Coffee. Have your neighbors over for their morning cup instead of meeting at a cafe – bake a cake and put your coffee/tea money in a pot for Malaika!
Book Club. Read a book, such as Half the Sky, at your next book club and introduce Malaika to your members. At the next meeting, gather donations to provide a girl with school supplies or clothes for one year. We can help you with invitations and donation envelopes.
Use Your Talents
No matter what your talents are, there is a way you can help raise money and awareness for Malaika! Here are some ideas:
Teach a yoga or Pilates class and donate the proceeds to Malaika.
Give massages or facials in exchange for a donation to Malaika.
Cook a delicious meal in exchange for a donation to Malaika.
Create a painting, drawing or photograph to sell for Malaika, or share it for free to spread the word.
Present a concert or performance and donate the proceeds to Malaika.

Malaika gladly accepts both monetary donations as well as donations of goods from corporations. As a corporate sponsor, Malaika will add your company name and logo to all of our marketing materials.

Sponsor a Girl
A donation of any size will help provide a quality education for one of our girls. You can sponsor one of our girls for a month, a year, or you can choose from a list of many school items to “purchase”, such as books, food, desks, etc.
