When Covid-19 forced the closure of our school and all other programs, our community members immediately looked for ways to step in and be part of the solution. One project became immediately apparent. Our mamans really know how to sew, and local people, like everyone worldwide, needed masks.
So, we’ve been commissioning these women to make hundreds of masks, which we’re distributing to the community. By the beginning of August, the ladies had already made more than 1,000 masks! It’s a way to generate income for those in need while providing a necessary means of safety and protection during this pandemic. The women will continue to sew masks as long as they’re needed.
