Junior’s Visit to Malaika

We were so pleased to have Junior Mutumene visit Malaika recently to teach soccer at the Community Center. A native to the DRC, he is a sports manager and soccer coach based in Cape Town, South Africa. He is interested in opening a soccer academy in Kinshasa, DRC called Ndembo Mangament. After seeing Malaika’s work, he decided to visit the school and offer free soccer lessons. We are grateful for the support and we know everyone enjoyed the lessons! Here is what Junior had to say on his experience:

“Giving back to the community has always been a development factor in my view; for this year, after research I had decided to select Malaika; this is due to the nature of their vision and mission, also a choice motivated by Tania Mukwamu who has said many good things about the foundation.

Conducting 3 training sessions of 1.5 hours max during 5 days in very hot weather, after a very sound welcome from the whole Malaika family and KFFH center, has been an experience to remember for the rest of my life. Mixed feeling was the turn around; seeing motivation and hope in everybody’s eyes is positive for the future; on the other end, kids (raw talented) coming to play soccer with huge commitment without proper soccer boots on a very hot turf was heartbreaking. My mission at Kalebuka Football for Hope Center will be completed when proper soccer boots will land there with the fundraising I’m personally initiating very soon. Change has to start somewhere, by being the change we want to see! Impossible is nothing.”

We were very happy and grateful to have  Junior share his talents with us! Enjoy some pictures below.
